the Project of Eliminating Breeding Sources of Dengue Vectors in Outdoor Public Areas in 2020

Absrtact
Under the impact of global climate change, global warming has led to an increase in the transmission vectors such as mosquitoes. Taiwan is located in subtropical region with high temperature in summer, the domestic dengue epidemics increase in summer. With the increase in global warming in recent years, the epidemic tends to start earlier than usual, and the cases of local epidemics is not limited to the south but gradually moved northward. In order to prevent dengue fever, the Environmental Protection Agency established the "Nation-wide Dual Action Plan on Dengue Fever (Contains Zika virus) Vector”" and adopted the principle of "Eliminate Source as main, Pesticides as support". The dengue fever prevention and control plan is divided into 3 stages namely daily prevention, prevention of spreading, and state of emergency while continuously promoting the daily routines of "patrol, dump, clean, and brush" to the public, these remind the public to conduct regular inspections and drying of water containers inside and outside the households to effectively control dengue fever epidemic. After the large-scale dengue epidemics broke out in Kaohsiung and Tainan in 2015, Taiwan has strengthened its procedures in epidemic prevention and response. The impact of global warming makes it crucial to be prepared. Dengue fever prevention and control must be a daily routine, from the central government, local implementation at all time. To prevent epidemic through top-down implementation, the project is promoted through several work items, including the customized training courses on dengue fever, workshops and seminars, as well as executive meetings to strengthen the expertise of central government, front-line workers, local community, and students; through data collection and analysis, the impact of climate change on the dengue fever epidemic and the warning of dengue fever hotspots in the three southern counties and cities have been proposed. Through the evaluation of index, the most appropriate detection model for Taiwan is proposed. Furthermore, creative art design helped in education to people about dengue in a more understandable form to encourage working together in preventing the epidemic. An effective prevention model and procedures are expected to be formulate through a diversified promotion strategy.
